The background of the images make a difference in the message of the image, in the contrast between the colours within the image and in the quality and strength of the image. The background of the images adds to the image, giving the viewer an idea of how the food could be set out and the context in which you could make the food.

This is because with food photography, images are often taken quite close up and often use a shallow depth of field. Could paint on wooden boards or add varnish to add contrast and colour to the images. Making the colour of the foods link with the backgrounds.
